Good News: Datto Hugs ConnectWise Partners After Autotask Marriage

When the Datto-Autotask merger surfaced last week, some partners worried Datto would push MSPs to abandon third-party RMM (remote monitoring and management) and PSA (professional services automation) options in favor of Autotask.

So far, that's definitely not the case. The evidence: Datto is delivering two new integrations for the ConnectWise partner ecosystem. They include:

  • Integration between Datto’s networking product line and ConnectWise Automate (for RMM). As a result, MSPs to view the availability of routers, switches, and access points across networks from a single source.
  • The second plugin is a rebuild of the integration with ConnectWise Manage, the business management platform, that leverages the ConnectWise REST API. Datto says the rebuild results in faster load times and improved alerting capabilities. It also features a completely redesigned user interface with faster, more intuitive navigation, and simple device configuration, the company said in a press release.

Keeping Open Minds (And Platforms)

Instead of promoting a rip and replace strategy, Datto and Autotask executives have vowed to keep the third-party integrations coming. Doing show ensures the Datto and Autotask portfolios appeal to the broadest set of MSPs possible, the companies note. That commitment extends all the way up to Datto CEO Austin McChord, who is leading the combined company. The merger is expected to be finalized later this quarter.

In the meantime, Datto is set to attend next week's IT Nation 2017 conference -- hosted by ConnectWise in Orlando, Fla.
