Cisco Systems partner InterVision, backed by private equity funding, has acquired Infiniti Consulting Group -- an Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure cloud consulting partner with a history of working within the public sector. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Infiniti’s clientele has included California Community Colleges System, the California State University System, and California Secretary of State.
By contrast, InterVision has concentrated mostly on commercial customer base, meaning there will be little cross-over between practices.
“InterVision has built a robust portfolio of clients for its infrastructure solutions, managed services and professional services that complements our cloud services practice and public sector client base,” said Scott Drossos, president of Infiniti. “The combination of InterVision impressive Managed Service Provider practice, sales coverage and engineers with the Infiniti team of cloud architects and technical specialists brings greater value to both Infiniti and InterVision. We are truly excited about scaling Infiniti’s cloud services business to reach new clients, geographies and industries.”
Infiniti has been operating for 15 years. Its 80-person team will join InterVision’s existing 260 employees spread throughout offices in San Francisco, Denver, Santa Clara, El Segundo, St. Louis and Bellevue, Washington.
Infiniti’s offerings include:
- DevOps & Application Development: Tools, processes, best practices, and corporate management guidelines that enable client agility and efficiency
- Cloud Architecture & IaaS: Design, build and implementation services to optimize AWS and other clouds
- Machine Learning & Predictive Analytics: Infiniti data scientists and cloud architects apply learning algorithms to massive data sets to analyze data to deliver its intended and real time meaning
- Cloud Migration: Services to rehost, re-platform, re-architect, and/or refactor
- Cloud Storage: Includes primary storage, back-up storage, archival storage, or business continuity, and disaster recovery storage
- Cloud Security: Solutions to optimize availability with security, access control privacy, and segregation
- Cloud SysOps: Plan, design, build and monitor workloads on AWS and other cloud platforms
- Cloud Monitoring Support: Monitoring, alerts and escalation support, and ongoing cloud architecture enhancements

InterVision has been partnered with Cisco Systems since 1997, focusing on Cisco’s Cloud and Managed Services Master designations and maintaining Gold Partner status for the past decade.
InterVision received private equity funding in 2016 and has been following up with various M&A deals. Some recent transactions include:
- March 2018: InterVision acquired Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) specialist Bluelock.
- December 2017: InterVision acquired Independent Technology Group (ITG), an integrator of networking, storage and security solutions based in Westlake Village, California. ITG serves clients locally to internationally, from small businesses to Fortune 100 companies across a broad variety of vertical markets, InterVision indicated at the time.
- June 2017: InterVision merged with Netelligent Corp., a provider of Hybrid IT solutions.
Cloud Consulting M&A Deals: AWS and Azure Partner Buyouts
Buyouts involving MSPs focused on Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) appear to be accelerating. Among the deals involving AWS and Azure partners that we’ve tracked:
- September 2018: AccountabilIT acquired ClearPointe Technologies, a Microsoft Azure-focused MSP
- August 2018: Global systems integrator Insight Enterprises acquired Microsoft partner Cardinal Solutions for application development services across mobile, web, analytics cloud services & more.
- August 2018: Onica acquired DevOps specialist TriNimbus Technologies, uniting two AWS Premier Consulting Partners.
- July 2018: EACS acquired Sentronex, a Microsoft and Cisco Systems partner in London.
- July 2018: Hitachi Vantara acquired AWS and Azure partner REAN Cloud LLC.
- April 2018: HP Enterprise acquired RedPixie, a Microsoft Azure-focused public cloud consulting, application development and migration services provider.
- April 2018: Reliam acquired Stratalux, essentially merging two MSPs focused on AWS.
- March 2018: Deloitte acquired API Talent, and AWS partner.
- December 2017: BV Investment Partners acquired majority control of Apps Associates, a global IT services company that specializes in cloud database migrations and managed services wrapped around Amazon Web Services (AWS), Oracle, Salesforce and NetSuite deployments.
- July 2017: Ensono acquired Inframon for Azure expertise.
- February 2017: Blackstone acquired majority control of Cloudreach, an MSP and IT consulting firm that migrates customers to Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Salesforce.
Private Equity and MSPs
Private equity firms have been very active in the MSP sector, frequently buying “platform” MSPs and then tucking in smaller acquisitions along the way. Example deals include:
- Abry Partners owns NexusTek, which has made multiple acquisitions.
- Ardenton Capital Corp. invested in Achieve One, a fast-growing IT architecture and services organization.
- Alvarez & Marsal Capital acquired a majority stake in CNSI, which specializes in healthcare IT management technology.
- Evergreen Services Group, backed by Alpine Investors, has made five MSP investments this year.
- Madison Dearborn Partners (MDP) in April 2018 acquired Remote DBA Experts (RDX), an MSP that provides remote database administration (DBA) and cloud managed services. It sounds like additional tuck-in acquisitions are planned.
- Mayfair Private Equity in May 2018 acquired UK-based GCI, and plans to tuck multiple companies into the ICT provider.
- M/C Partners acquired Thrive Networks in late 2016 and has since tucked in multiple businesses.
- Sentinel Capital Partners acquired UBEO Business Services, a provider of printer, copier, and related office equipment.
