TD SYNNEX announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire specialty distributor BlueStar. This deal would expand its capabilities across operational technology, mobility and other specialized markets. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions, and the companies will continue operating independently until it closes.
BlueStar specializes in automatic identification and data capture (AIDC), RFID, point-of-sale, digital signage, networking, robotics, security and related technologies. TD SYNNEX said combining that expertise with its global scale could give partners access to a broader technology portfolio, additional resources and specialized support. BlueStar CEO Ryan Girvin said the proposed combination would allow the company to maintain its specialization while expanding the resources available to partners.
For MSPs, the acquisition could create more opportunities to expand beyond traditional managed IT into operational technology and specialized edge environments. Access to BlueStar’s expertise in areas such as RFID, mobility, networking, robotics and security could help providers build solutions for retail, manufacturing and other vertical markets. TD SYNNEX’s scale could also make it easier for MSPs to source, integrate and support those technologies as part of broader managed services engagements.
