Hosvara has acquired Dr. Backup, a backup provider that has served the MSP channel for more than two decades. The acquisition is expected to bring additional infrastructure investment and product development resources while maintaining continuity for existing partners, according to ChannelPro.
Hosvara plans to expand infrastructure and roadmap resources, although the company has not yet identified its first planned improvements. Henriquez brings experience as an MSP owner, providing a channel-focused perspective on the business. Dr. Backup founder Mitch Romm will remain involved as a strategic adviser for the next year to help support the transition.
For MSPs, the acquisition could mean stronger long-term support and continued investment in a familiar backup provider. The key considerations will be whether Hosvara delivers meaningful improvements in reliability, recovery capabilities and partner support without disrupting existing services. MSPs evaluating backup vendors should monitor the company's roadmap and assess how its investments could strengthen their business continuity and disaster recovery offerings.
