Insight Enterprises Acquires Microsoft Partner Cardinal Solutions for Application Development
Global systems integrator Insight Enterprises has acquired Cardinal Solutions — a Microsoft partner that has an application development team focused on mobile, web, analytics and cloud services. Financial terms were not disclosed but the deal’s value was $79 million, according to Cincinnati Business Courier.
The acquisition allows Insight to expand its Digital Innovation expertise across Supply Chain Optimization, Connected Workforce, and Cloud and Data Center Transformation solutions. That business, with Cardinal tucked in, represents $150 million in revenues and 825 employees.
“Having one of the largest digital innovation organizations in the industry positions us to drive differentiation within their business, workforce and customer experiences,” said Insight CEO Ken Lamneck.
The companies did not reveal whether there would be any managerial or structural changes following the deal.
Growing And Strengthening
Insight, based in Tempe, Arizona, has been growing steadily over the last four years, acquiring BlueMetal in late 2015 and Australia-based Ignia in 2016. Lump all those companies together, and Insight owns Microsoft’s Partner of the Year for Artificial Intelligence (2018), Mobile App Development (2017), Open Source on Azure (2017), and Internet of Things (2016).
Cardinal, founded in 1996, has more than 400 employees. Key clients include Fifth Third Bank, Kroger, Walmart, and Johnson & Johnson.
Insight, meanwhile, was founded by two college friends in 1988. The company IPOed in 1995 and two years later it expanded into Canada and the United Kingdom. Insight has been growing steadily since, acquiring eight companies in the last 10 years. The company now boasts more than 6,600 employees worldwide.
