AVI-SPL Acquires Canadian Collaboration Company Sharp’s Audio Visual

AVI-SPL, an audio visual specialist, has acquired Sharp’s Audio Visual -- a Canadian integrator. Armed with Sharp's team, AVI-SPL will "significantly enhance and expand its ability to design, build, manage, and support collaboration technology deployments for organizations throughout Canada and around the world," the companies said.

There's also a managed services component to the deal. Indeed, AVL-SPL will extend its global help desk and remote monitoring services to Sharp's customers across Canada.

Calgary, Alberta-based Sharp’s launched in 1923 (yup, 94 years ago) and has offices in Vancouver, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Halifax. The company specializes in the design and integration of audiovisual systems technology for meeting and collaborative spaces, digital signage solutions, classroom technologies and lecture theaters.

This is AVI-SPL’s third acquisition in less than a year. Earlier deals involve VideoLink (Newton, Mass), a broadcasting platform specialist and Anderson Audio Visual (San Diego, Calif.).

AVI-SPL is owned by H.I.G. Capital is a private equity investment firm with $23 billion of equity capital under management. H.I.G. has invested in and managed more than 200 companies around the globe. The firm’s portfolio includes more than 100 companies with combined sales in excess of $30 billion.
