AvePoint has rolled out an updated Global Partner Program built around a points-based model that shifts the focus from revenue alone to overall engagement and expertise. The goal is to help partners build stronger service capabilities in data security, governance, and AI enablement while creating clearer pathways to profitability.

Scott Sacket, senior vice president of partner strategy at AvePoint told ChannelE2E that the new model “recognizes that our partners can benefit through more than just resale revenue, but rather through partner development, pre-sales lead generation activities, and recurring, services-based revenue generation.” For MSPs and resellers, that means prioritizing competency development, customer success, and pre-sales engagement over pure transaction volume.

The change comes as demand for managed IT services continues to grow faster than overall IT spending. Data security and governance are key drivers, with organizations seeking specialized skills to secure multi-cloud environments, prepare for AI adoption, and maintain compliance. AvePoint’s new structure rewards partners for activities such as training, pre-sales engagement, and recurring services revenue, rather than solely measuring success by sales figures.

Sacket pointed to partner examples like Crayon, which makes $5 in services revenue for every $1 of AvePoint spend, as proof of the value this shift can create. “With the points-based partner model, we will encourage and reward behavior to continue to increase that so partners can boost their revenue by working with us,” he said.

With the new tiering system, smaller but highly committed partners can access advanced benefits without steep revenue thresholds, while larger partners have more ways to earn points through renewals, co-marketing, and other metrics. Advanced partners gain access to lead sharing, co-sell support, business investment funds, and dedicated solution engineering resources. “The program is purpose-built for partners looking to develop managed services in these high-growth areas where organizations are seeking specialized expertise for AI readiness and multi-cloud compliance,” Sacket noted.

Partners advance through tiers based on engagement and expertise rather than revenue alone. According to Sacket, this focus on engagement metrics creates “more predictable and sustainable pathways to partner profitability.” Expanded access to technical resources, certifications, and sales enablement tools is designed to help partners grow recurring revenue streams and improve retention.

The program is part of a broader channel strategy that includes AvePoint’s acquisition of Ydentic to enhance identity and access management capabilities, the launch of its next-generation Elements platform, and new security and optimization features across its portfolio. Taken together, these investments aim to position partners for higher-value, services-led engagements and stronger long-term customer relationships in an evolving IT services market.
