Okta redesigns partner program to emphasize services delivery

Okta has unveiled a completely redesigned partner program, the Okta Partner Accelerator, set to launch in early 2027. This overhaul represents the largest partner program update for the identity security vendor in three years, introducing distinct tracks for different partner types and new incentives. A key objective is to shift the majority of service delivery to partners, with Okta's internal services organization evolving into a specialized support unit for complex implementations, with further coverage provided by CRN.

The Okta Partner Accelerator program replaces the previous revenue-focused structure with an outcome-based approach, rewarding partners on results rather than solely on sales. Partners can engage in sales, services, or technology tracks, each with three tiers, designed to align rewards with partner activities. This structure aims to accommodate a wider range of partners, from boutique consultancies to global system integrators. New incentives include rewards for acquiring new customers and migrating existing ones from competitor platforms, alongside deployment incentives to accelerate product implementation. Okta is also enhancing enablement through additional training, AI tools, and marketing support. The program's evolution is seen by partners like Slalom as a positive step towards earlier engagement and a focus on solving customer business problems. This strategic shift coincides with Okta's expansion into areas like identity governance, privileged access, and AI agent security, which often require more specialized partner expertise. Partners were instrumental in Okta's 20 largest deals last quarter, highlighting their critical role in driving adoption of both core identity security and emerging solutions like Okta for AI Agents.
