Rackspace Technology has announced the Foundry for Generative AI by Rackspace (FAIR) for Google Cloud, a global practice dedicated to "advancing business transformation, improving customer experience, increasing the quality of service and accelerating value creation through the secure and pragmatic use of AI technologies using Google Cloud," according to a prepared statement.

The news comes after Rackspace launched FAIR in June 2023.

What FAIR for Google Cloud Offers

FAIR for Google Cloud provides three services to help organizations leverage generative AI:

  • FAIR Ideate, an interactive and collaborative ideation workshop that helps organizations uncover use cases for generative AI.
  • FAIR Incubate, an iterative program that establishes a technology stack and assesses the viability of AI to co-create generative AI solutions with organizations.
  • FAIR Industrialize, which helps an organization transform an AI solution into a product, implement governance guidelines, define metrics and optimize its AI model and distributed cloud infrastructure.

Srini Koushik, Rackspace's CTO and global lead for FAIR, commented on his company's partnership with Google Cloud and what it means for both companies' respective customers:

"This partnership is a force multiplier to accelerate the pragmatic and secure use-case-based adoption of generative AI in businesses across all industries. With FAIR, Rackspace and Google Cloud are building on our shared values of putting the customer first, commitment to sustainability and technology innovation to align our offerings, multi-cloud capabilities and highly skilled cloud workforce with Google Cloud's industry-leading AI capabilities to help our customers harness the true power of generative AI in a secure, responsible and human-friendly manner."

Jim Anderson, VP of the North American partners ecosystem and channels at Google Cloud, also commented on the partnership and how it can transform organizations:

"Generative AI has the potential to improve how businesses fundamentally operate in every industry. Rackspace's launch of FAIR for Google Cloud will provide businesses with the expertise needed to deploy new AI capabilities safely, responsibly and quickly."

Rackspace, Google Cloud to Drive Generative AI Adoption

To date, Rackspace has used FAIR to implement Rackspace Intelligent Co-pilot for the Enterprise (Rackspace ICE), which lets go-to-market teams use AI to "automate routine tasks, identify warm leads, surface relevant data and content and provide real-time contextualized analytics for hyper-personalized customer interactions," the company said.

Also, Rackspace is using FAIR to develop Rackspace's Intelligent Technology Assistant (RITA), an interactive chatbot that uses language models to answer text IT service requests, respond to self-service inquiries, request new hardware or software, reset forgotten passwords and answer questions about IT and security policies, the company stated.

A Closer Look at FAIR

FAIR enables organizations to "unlock the capabilities of generative AI and transform data into a powerful tool," Rackspace noted. It offers several use cases, including:

  • Content generation by writing and producing personalized recommendations and responses for customer responses and product selections.
  • Knowledge management, as organizations can leverage generative AI to extract insights from telephone calls, generate personalized learning plans and summarize data from multiple sources.
  • Semantic search by utilizing natural language processing and other technologies to allow users to ask questions to quickly find relevant documents, images and videos.

Along with Google Cloud, FAIR supports Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure public cloud data and several other technologies.
