Evolve IP Acquires Clearlogin for IDaaS

Often users will trade security in preference for ease of access. I can't count how many times I've seen a password stuck to a computer monitor via post-it note. I've even had customers request password restrictions be lifted for high-level executives because they didn't have time for complicated password requirements. To ensure the security of a company's data, passwords must be difficult to guess, which also makes them hard for users to remember. Given these realities, it is not surprising that access management and IDaaS (ID as-a-service) companies are finding great success.

Indeed, Evolve IP, which is making headway in the cloud services market, today announced that it has acquired Clearlogin, an identity authentication technology provider based in Mountainside, New Jersey. The Evolve IP OneCloud platform will benefit the most from this new acquisition as the company incorporates the product into the platform. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Clearlogin’s identity authentication suite provides enterprises with a highly-secure and compliant way to provision and monitor associate identities across more than 4,000 of the most common applications in the market, the company claims. With accounts across so many different services these days, Clearlogin offers a web dashboard with access to the most popular cloud services like Office 365 and Salesforce, with a simple click. Clearlogin stores your password and logs you into the requested service quickly and easily, the company says.

Access to Clearlogin can be controlled easily through their dashboard as well. Managers can grant or deny users access, and set up multi-factor authentication for added security. They can also access reports to gain insight into user behavior and access such as unsuccessful login attempts and password changes.

Evolve IP will integrate Clearlogin into its OneCloud platform, which lets enterprises move a service at a time, to a secure, virtual private environment. The combination of multiple IT services into a single environment is something many customers are seeking.

Pushing beyond traditional MSP services for SMBs, Evolve IP wants to be a one-stop shop for virtualized desktops, servers, applications and data centers. Integrating Clearlogin will definitely help with the company's goal to provide access to cloud solutions in a single environment to more enterprises.

This is the latest in a growing list of Evolve IP acquisitions. The company purchased Netherlands-based cloud communications firm Mtel in August 2017.  Earlier the company acquired roughly a dozen MSPs, CSPs and network integrators. Boston, Mass.-based Great Hill Partners acquired majority control of Evolve IP in 2016.
