Today’s Technology and MSP Partner Program News

  1. Barracuda launches new platform: Cloud-first security solutions provider Barracuda Networks, Inc. announced a new platform called Barracuda SecureEdge, an as-a-service SASE solution that integrates Barracuda's Secure SD-WAN, Firewall-as-a-Service, Zero Trust Network Access, and Secure Web Gateway capabilities to give MSPs a single-vendor solution. Barracuda SecureEdge secures users, sites, and IoT devices, is easy to manage and connects any device, application, and cloud/hybrid environment, the company said.
  2. Succession plan executed: NeoSystems, a full-service strategic outsourcer, IT systems integrator and managed services provider to the government contracting market, today announced Brad Mitchell will take the helm as President and CEO, succeeding Michael Tinsley, who will become Chairman of the Board. Under Tinsley's direction, NeoSystems has grown from a two-person shop to a $42 million business with more than 160 employees and 600 plus customers across the United States.
  3. Cloud price war: There’s a cloud price war going on in China. Reuters reports that Chinese internet giant Tencent Holdings is cutting cloud service prices by up to 40% from June. Alibaba Group holding said last month it would cut prices for some cloud services by up to 50%. State-owned China Mobile said prices from some services would be reduced by 60% for a limited time.
  4. Cutting cloud costs: Speaking of cloud, many deployments are ad hoc and poorly implemented, according to Gartner, who identified a refactoring of cloud infrastructure as one of four trends shaping the future of cloud, data center and edge infrastructure. The focus of refactoring cloud infrastructure should be on optimizing costs by eliminating redundant, overbuit or unused cloud infrastructure.
  5. MSP acquisition: NexusTek, a national provider of managed IT and technology consulting services, has joined with ICCS & Co., LLC (ICCS), a regional managed IT services provider based in New York City. In connection with the transaction, A&M Capital Strategic Investments will be leading a substantial investment into the combined business along with continued participation from Abry Partners and other investors.
