D-Link Denies FTC’s IoT Security Charges

D-Link plans to vigorously defend itself against the FTC, which alleges the networking company's security lapses left D-Link wireless routers and Internet cameras vulnerable to hackers and put U.S. consumers’ privacy at risk.In a prepared statement, D-Link said:The statement is part of an FAQ that D-Link has posted on its website. The FTC's complaint alleges that D-Link failed to take reasonable steps to secure its routers and IP cameras, potentially compromising sensitive consumer information, including live video and audio feeds from D-Link IP cameras, the commission said. The FTC has pursued similar cases against ASUS and TRENDnet, the commission noted.
