Artisan Infrastructure, which promotes cloud and business continuity solutions through the channel, has been scouring the market for more data protection technology. After some serious market research and lots of conversations, CEO Brian Hierholzer finally found the blueprint for a solution at Just One Data -- a startup on Long Island.

Indeed, Just One Data was piecing together a web-scale storage data platform that leverages deduplication for more effective backups, archiving, disaster recovery and more. This wasn't a bunch of first-time entrepreneurs hacking away in a basement. Just One Data CEO Chin Kuo has worked in and around the storage market since the late 1980s for such companies as Cheyenne Software, CA Technologies and FalconStor Software.

Now, Kuo is senior VP of Continuity Solutions at Artisan Infrastructure. Indeed, Artisan has quietly acquired Just One Data's data protection blueprint. In fact, it served as the foundation for Neverfail HybriStor, a family of data protection appliances that Artisan launched today.

Addressing Key Challenges

During a call last week with ChannelE2E, Heirholzer and Kuo claimed Neverfail HybriStor takes data deduplication to new levels. The result, they claim, is a vendor-neutral solution that allows channel partners to navigate smaller backup windows while consuming less bandwidth over WAN connections.

Neverfail HybriStor also boasts a freemium pricing model. The virtual appliance provides customers with up to 100TB of free managed capacity, with an assumed deduplication ratio of 10 to 1 and up to 10TB managed capacity per node.

Chris Wiser

During its early years, Artisan was perhaps best known as a channel-centric alternative to Amazon Web Services' Infrastructure as a Service. But over the past few years, Artisan has evolved to promote a range of cloud management tools and business continuity services. The company also has a growing focus on security.

As part of that diversified effort, Artisan in mid-2015 hired Chris Wiser as its MSP Channel Chief. Now, Wiser will be armed with Neverfail HybriStor as a new business continuity tool for MSPs and channel partners.
