Apogee IT Services (Pittsburgh, Pa.) has acquired DSM Computing Solutions Inc. (Toronto, Ontario), the companies have confirmed. The deal was backed by Brook Venture Partners and Blue Heron Capital.

“Our vision is to provide world-class IT to SMBs across the northeast,” said Michael Halperin, CEO of Apogee IT Services, in a prepared statement. “It is especially exciting for us to grow internationally and we are fortunate enough to have combined with DSM, who aligns with Apogee’s culture and high standards for service delivery. On a personal level, I am especially excited to be in Toronto, a place I know and love.” Halperin’s father resided in the city for nearly 40 years, Apogee indicated.

DSM Computing Solutions, founded in 1988, has evolved toward cloud computing in recent years. We're checking to see if DSM CEO Sheldon Waters will remain with Apogee.

Apogee and DSM Computing Solutions expect "minimal near-term operational impact to existing clients." Tequity Inc., an M&A advisory firm specializing in strategic software and technology deals, advised DSM Computing Solutions in the deal.
