MSP Acquisition: SysGroup Buys Dell EMC Partner Certus IT

UK-based managed IT and cloud hosting provider SysGroup PLC has acquired Certus IT Limited, a managed IT services provider and Dell EMC partner. The deal's value: £8.0 million (approximately US$10.3 million). SysGroup also announced new funding to pursue more acquisitions.

Certus IT, founded in 2000,  is strong in the professional services and manufacturing sectors across South Wales and surrounding areas. The company's customer base includes Admiral, Confused.com and Hugh James. The firm is a Dell EMC Gold Partner and received Dell EMC Cloud Partner of the Year in 2015.

By contrast, SysGroup is a WatchGuard Platinum Partner, Microsoft Gold Data Center Partner, and Kaspersky Gold Partner. The company has a well-established presence in the financial services, retail, insurance, charity, education, and healthcare sectors.

Explaining the deal, SysGroup CEO Adam Binks said:

"The addition of Certus IT to the group represents a step-change regarding the scale of the business, better positioning SysGroup to penetrate our target market and drive further growth, This acquisition fits within our strategy of growing the business organically and through strategic acquisitions, and we are excited by the prospects that lie ahead.”

SysGroup has considerable M&A experience. The company previously acquired Rockford and System Professional. More deals could be on tap. SysGroup's war chest includes £10.0 million from the capital markets, and a £5.0 million banking facility.
