Parsippany, New Jersey-based IT support firm and Microsoft partner Strategic Micro Systems has acquired Connecticut-based IT firm Business Technology LLC (BTL). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquisition allows the company to expand further into the southwest region of Connecticut.
This is Strategic’s second acquisition since it was founded in 1998 by president Ted Passalacqua. It previously acquired Alpha Technology Group in 2013.
Passalacqua commented on the recent deal:
"We are incredibly excited to bring our successful brand of technology support, cloud solutions, and IT security services to small and mid-sized clients within the New England region as well as to the existing clients of BTL.”
Business Technology specializes in support for small and mid-market clients in industries including engineering, hospitality, manufacturing, healthcare, financial, legal, non-profit associations and education. The company’s founder, Peter Ferrio, said he knew quickly that Strategic was the right company to continue providing support for Business Technology’s clients.
Ferrio commented:
"A critically important part of the acquisition was ensuring my staff, who are like family, transitioned to an MSP that would take excellent care of them."
As part of the acquisition, existing client contracts will be fully honored and the BTL staff is now part of the Strategic team, the company says. The partnership will include expanded IT support and cloud service offerings, Virtual Desktop solutions, access to certified Microsoft technicians, as well as access to Microsoft's complete product line.
