Paessler AG Network Monitoring: Now An Amazon AWS Cloud Service

Paessler AG has released its network monitoring platform as a cloud service. The move takes the company’s PRTG Network Monitor solution -- a which tracks the health and performance of a network administrator’s infrastructure -- and puts it into the cloud, which the company asserts gives the solution more “flexibility, economy, and security.”

PRTG in the Cloud allows for monitoring of on-premises systems, cloud systems, or hybrid environments that include physical and virtualized assets, the company says. It includes more than 200 pre-configured sensors and customizable dashboards which display precise information such as overall network health, or more specific details like temperature and capacity levels of individual servers.

The Paessler technology also uses Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud’s functionality to improve speed and real-time access to a customer support team, the company asserts.

According to Paessler, more than 200,000 network administrators currently use PRTG, though the technology is largely the realm of midmarket MSPs and enterprise accounts. Small and midsize business MSPs, meanwhile, often rely on the Waterloo, Ontario-based Auvik Networks for SMB network monitoring.

Paessler was founded in 1997 in Nuremberg, Germany. The company is privately held and a VMware Technology Alliance Partner and a member of the Cisco Solution Partner Program.
