Tom AlexanderUplevel Systems, which just raised $1.2 million, is developing an integrated MSP management platform for small businesses. In theory, the company could be set to compete against MSP-centric software and appliance providers that specialize in RMM (remote monitoring and management), BDR (backup and disaster recovery), security, networking and more.It looks like Uplevel's solution involves an on-premises appliance that addresses remote network management, wired and Wi-Fi networking, virtual private networks (VPNs), data backup and storage, firewall, and other data and network security services. The appliance will target MSPs that support customers with five to 25 employees.I don't know if Uplevel developed all of the software and hardware components on its own, or if the appliance leverages OEMed technology from established MSP technology companies.
The Uplevel Systems founding team includes:
CEO Tom Alexander, formerly chief architect at PMC-Sierra;
VP of Marketing Glenn Chagnot, formerly director of product management and marketing leader at Ixia and VeriWave; and
Product Architect Sergey Rathon, a 20-year industry veteran focused on high-quality user experience.
Uplevel is the latest in a growing list of MSP-centric technology startups focused on speed-to-value and easier SMB technology deployments for MSPs. Other emerging players in the segment include Atera and Comodo.
