Scale Computing and Solutions4ebiz are partnering to promote and sell converged appliances -- a.k.a. servers, storage and virtualization -- into midmarket enterprises.
Scale Computing's HC3 platform unites storage, servers, virtualization and management together in a single system. The converged midmarket technology requires no virtualization software to license and no external storage to buy. Solutions4ebiz, an IT consulting firm, sees growing demand for highly available infrastructure among its customers, according to CEO Jack Wilson.
The reason? Fewer and fewer customers want to buy piece-part data center products. Sales of converged infrastructure -- servers, storage, networking -- have been growing rapidly for the past few years. Most of the major hardware providers -- Cisco Systems, HP, EMC's VCE arm, IBM and more -- now offer some form of converged hardware to help ease product management and scalability.
Scale Computing takes a slightly different approach. The company claims its all-in-one appliance is scalable, self-healing and as easy to manage as a single server. Leveraging industry standard components, the HC3 appliances install in under an hour, and can be expanded and upgraded with no downtime, the company claims.
Everything is managed by Scale Computing's HyperCore Software.
