Former Intronis CEO Joins Robotics Industry

Rick Faulk

Former Intronis CEO Rick Faulk has joined either Locus Robotics or QuietLogistics (or both) as CEO. The move comes less than a year after Barracuda Networks acquired Intronis for its cloud-centric backup and data protection services, which are sold via MSPs.

Brian Babineau, who led the Barracuda-Intronis integration team, succeeds Faulk as the Intronis MSP Solutions business leader.

Intronis has performed well under Barracuda's ownership and is preparing to push deeper into subscription services, according to Barracuda CEO BJ Jenkins. During an April 2016 earnings call, Jenkins said the Intronis business should grow about 25 percent this year.

Faulk's Next Move

Amid that momentum and successful business transition, Faulk apparently resigned as the Intronis division GM to join QuietLogistics and Locus Robotics as CEO this month, according to his LinkedIn profile. Quiet and Locus have an ongoing business relationship, but I don't know if the businesses are intertwined and/or ultimately one company.

According to Faulk's profile:

"Quiet Logistics provides Third Party Fulfillment for e-commerce companies. It is best known as the “quiet” back-end fulfillment provider for some of the best apparel and accessories brands in the world. Its services, a combination of proprietary software and robotic hardware are made available to its customers under a simple “by the drink” pricing formula."

It also says:

"Locus Robotics Corporation sells an innovative autonomous mobile robot and the associated navigation/control solution to e-commerce companies."

We're checking to see if or how the two companies are blending their efforts.

Meanwhile, Intronis MSP Solutions powered by Barracuda continues to push beyond traditional cloud-based backup, introducing appliances and various security-related efforts to drive more revenues via MSPs.
