Deloitte has acquired Day1 Solutions, a Top 50 Amazon Web Services (AWS) MSP and cloud consulting firm with a simple mantra: "One Vendor, One Bill, as a Service." In other words, Day1 Solutions is a master-MSP or -CSP (cloud services provider) of sorts, managing multiple cloud services for end-customers. Financial terms for the deal were not disclosed.
Day1 is part of Deloitte's broader cloud and digital business strategy. Indeed, Deloitte is adding 3,000 new engineers over the next year to help organizations integrate, streamline and manage business operations in the cloud, the company claims. The majority of these new engineers will operate out of three new cloud studios to be opened in Orlando, New York and Washington, D.C., over the next year, expanding the existing network of 44 Deloitte Digital studios worldwide, the company added.
Deloitte's digital and cloud services push isn't unique. Several global systems integrators and consulting firms -- from Accenture to IBM -- have been acquiring cloud services talent for Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Oracle, Salesforce, ServiceNow and Workday specializations, among other areas.
AWS-focused consulting firms with DevOps expertise also in high demand. With that reality in mind, HOSTING recently acquired Stelligent and Claranet recently acquired Bashton.
Day1, like its new parent Deloitte, is a veteran dealmaker. The company raised $2 million in 2015 for various growth activities and acquired roughly four or five companies in recent years. The buyouts included (2014) Logic Method IT (LMIT) -- a cloud-centric MSP focused on Amazon Web Services; and Vazata's public sector business unit (2015). Day1 is known for its strong presence in the federal market, though the company's commercial and higher education businesses are coming on strong, according to sources.
