As America debates President Trump's executive order on immigration, the technology industry continues to weigh in with views and perspectives. CompTIA CEO Todd Thibodeaux offered this comment today.

"The safety and prosperity of the United States rests not only on sensible border security measures but in equal measure on the integration of diverse peoples that bring cultural, educational, scientific, and religious perspectives and knowledge that strengthen the fabric of our society," Thibodeaux said. "We feel this most profoundly in the tech industry, where so many iconic American companies – and major employers –such as Intel, Sun Microsystems, eBay, Yahoo! and Google were all founded, at least in part, by foreign nationals."

"We are concerned with the Administration’s executive order on suspending immigration from certain nations," he added. "This action was taken with little forewarning, has several provisions that lack clarity, and seems to even impact individuals that are lawful permanent residents of our nation. The tech industry stands ready to work with the Administration to advance our national economic and security interests; but we hope we can do so in ways that are true to our American values."

CompTIA positions itself as the "world's leading technology association." The organization has roughly 2,000 member companies, 3,000 academic and training partners, over 100,000 registered users and more than two million IT certifications issued. Perhaps best-known by channel partners, CompTIA also is taking steps to further communicate and strengthen its services for IT professionals.

Several federal district courts this past weekend blocked the implementation of Trump's executive order, which had banned immigration from seven majority-Muslim countries, CNN reported. However, the situation is fluid as the Trump Administration, politicians, the judicial system and legal representatives each weigh in on the matter.
