Veeam Software Launches New Backup-as-a-Service Offerings for Microsoft 365 and Azure

Data protection and ransomware recovery company Veeam Software has released two new Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS) offerings.

Cirrus by Veeam, available to Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure customers from today, combines Veeam’s trusted backup and restore capabilities with a simplified BaaS model. An updated version of this service is set for release in Q1 2024 and will be accessible via Veeam service providers, Microsoft Azure marketplace, and Veeam’s online store.

Executives and Experts Weigh In

Danny Allan, CTO, Veeam, commented:

"450,000 customers trust Veeam to protect their business and keep it running, which has led us to become the #1 global provider of data protection and ransomware recovery. We're now giving customers those trusted capabilities - for Microsoft 365 and for Microsoft Azure - delivered as a service."

Phil Goodwin, research vice president at IDC, added:

"Cloud-based as-a-service delivery for data protection products has become the preferred method of utilizing them. IDC forecasts the data protection as-a-service market will grow at a 19.2% CAGR to a total of $21.4 billion by 2026."

Malcolm Plant, Group Cloud & Infrastructure Architect at Webjet Limited, said:

"The simple to use interface was one of the biggest reasons we chose Cirrus to back up our Microsoft 365 data, as well as the ease of set up. We love that Cirrus is powered by Veeam and comes in a SaaS format."

Cirrus by Veeam: Features and Benefits

Veeam acquired Cirrus from CT4, who developed the cloud-native service atop Veeam’s recognized data backup and ransomware recovery platform. Cirrus for Microsoft 365 builds upon Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 to deliver it as a service. Benefits include:

  • All-in-one cloud service that offers software, infrastructure, and unlimited storage.
  • Customizable backup, flexible recovery options, and advanced search capabilities.
  • All-inclusive pricing with no additional software or infrastructure costs.

Cirrus Cloud Protect for Microsoft Azure focuses on the vital protection of data stored on Azure, providing a hosted and pre-configured solution that ensures robust backup and recovery.

Cirrus by Veeam can be accessed via the Azure Marketplace and existing distribution channels. An integrated Veeam BaaS offering will make its debut in early 2024.
