Richard Hume, CEO, Tech Data

Tech Data COO Richard T. Hume will succeed longtime CEO Robert Dutkowsky on June 6, the distributor confirmed this morning. Dutkowsky will shift to executive chairman of the Board.

The move comes roughly a year after Tech Data acquired Avnet's technology solutions business -- a deal that pushed Tech Data far deeper into enterprise computing and data center solutions.

Dutkowsky has served as Tech Data's CEO and a member of the company's Board of Directors since 2006.

Hume joined Tech Data in 2016 as executive vice president, chief operating officer. Earlier, he spent more than 30 years at IBM. During his 12-year tenure, the company's revenues have grown from $21 billion to more than $36 billion, and non-GAAP earnings per share have increased by more than 550 percent, Tech Data indicated.

We'll update this article with more thoughts soon.
