ServiceNow Acquiring Business Continuity Platform, MSP

Share

ServiceNow is acquiring Fairchild Resiliency Systems, a business continuity platform provider and MSP (managed IT services provider) in Boston, Massachusetts. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Fairchild is a ServiceNow Independent Software Vendor (ISV) partner. This is the first time ServiceNow has acquired an ISV partner, the companies said.

In a prepared statement about the deal, ServiceNow said:

"With Fairchild, ServiceNow plans to extend its Risk portfolio by bringing together Fairchild’s business continuity capabilities with ServiceNow’s operational, vendor and IT risk management capabilities to give organizations the visibility and flexibility they need to better manage risk and become more resilient."

Fairchild BCM (Business Continuity Management) already integrates with two ServiceNow offerings: IT Service Management (ITSM) and Integrated Risk Management.

ServiceNow expects to complete the acquisition in Q4 2019. The deal surfaces as ServiceNow transitions its CEO role from John Dnahoe to SAP veteran Bill McDermott. Donahoe will join Nike as CEO in January 2020.

IT Service Management (ITSM) and Business Continuity

This is the latest in a growing list of deals that converges IT service management (ITSM), backup and disaster recovery (BDR), business continuity and risk mitigation services. Earlier deals involve:

Those five deals generally focus on small business MSPs, while the ServiceNow-Fairchild deal mainly focuses on midmarket and enterprise customers.
