Proofpoint Expands Compliance Capabilities with Nuclei Acquisition

In a single week, Proofpoint has announced two significant acquisitions, signaling a strategic expansion of its cybersecurity and compliance offerings. Last week, Proofpoint acquired Hornetsecurity, a European vendor that specializes in protecting smaller businesses running Microsoft 365 and doing so with the help of MSPs.Today, Proofpoint has acquired Nuclei, a technology provider focused on compliance archiving and AI-powered data enrichment, to bolster its digital communications governance capabilities. The acquisition comes at a time when organizations are increasingly relying on collaboration platforms like Microsoft Teams, Slack, Zoom, and WhatsApp—creating new challenges for security, compliance, and information governance teams. With Nuclei’s platform, Proofpoint gains the ability to capture and archive data across more than 100 collaboration tools. This includes not just messages and attachments, but also metadata, transcriptions, and translated content. The integration enhances Proofpoint’s ability to address regulatory and legal obligations while helping customers unlock operational insights from real-time conversations.
