WEBIT Services has become 100% employee-owned as founder Eric Rieger steps away from the Naperville, Illinois, MSP after nearly 30 years. Rather than sell the business to an outside buyer, Rieger partnered with Buildkin, a family of employee-owned technology companies, to transfer ownership to WEBIT’s employees. Buildkin CEO Delcie Bean has assumed the CEO role, while COO Aarin Bailey will continue overseeing day-to-day operations.
WEBIT says the transition is designed to minimize disruption for customers, with no planned changes to pricing, service agreements, support processes, ticketing, local leadership or the WEBIT name. The deal highlights employee ownership as another succession option for MSP founders looking beyond a traditional sale.
For MSP owners, the broader lesson is that succession planning should account for more than valuation. WEBIT’s approach shows how founders can use an exit strategy to preserve culture, protect customer relationships and create continuity for employees. It also reinforces the value of planning early, before a health issue, market shift or unexpected event forces a rushed decision.
