Okta launches Blueprint Alliance to secure AI agents

Okta has launched the Blueprint Alliance, a coalition of technology leaders including AWS, CrowdStrike, Databricks, Docker, Proofpoint, ServiceNow, Wiz, and Zscaler. The alliance, according to reporting by Channel Insider, aims to establish a shared architecture for the secure management and governance of AI agents within enterprise environments.

The coalition, announced at Oktane in Las Vegas, focuses on simplifying the identification, monitoring, containment, and management of AI agents across complex, multi-vendor technology stacks. The Blueprint Alliance expands upon Okta's existing secure agent architecture by establishing shared principles for AI agent security. These principles include treating each agent as a distinct identity, limiting access to specific tasks, ensuring traceable delegation, continuous runtime monitoring, instant and reversible containment, and adaptive governance. The alliance will address the challenge of responding to AI agent activities, building upon the initial blueprint's focus on agent location, capabilities, and actions. Founding members are committed to cross-vendor signal sharing using open standards like MCP, OCSF, SSF, and CAEP, ensuring that a threat detected by one system can trigger actions across all connected control planes. They will also publish reference integrations to foster a multi-vendor security ecosystem. For channel partners, the alliance's success hinges on its ability to translate interoperability efforts into practical controls for mixed-technology environments, enabling consistent integration of security and identity controls as customers adopt AI agents.
