Intuit Launches App Partner Program with New Tiers, APIs, and Pricing Model for Developers

Intuit has rolled out a refreshed App Partner Program aimed at helping third-party developers build, scale, and grow their apps across the QuickBooks and Intuit Enterprise Suite ecosystem. The program introduces tiered benefits, early API access, and a new pricing structure - positioning developers to better serve small and mid-market business users on the Intuit platform.

A More Structured Path for Developer Growth

At the core of the new program is a tier system - Builder, Silver, Gold, and Platinum - that rewards developers based on customer adoption and how deeply integrated their apps are with Intuit’s products. Each level unlocks additional support and benefits, from marketing resources and product analytics to early access to APIs.

Josh Hofmann, vice president of Global Partner Ecosystems at Intuit QuickBooks, explained to ChannelE2E how this new structure opens doors for a broader range of developers:
"Depending on the tier, there are different benefits that can help create greater awareness and drive revenue for app partners. Examples include new badging that promotes tier level, customer case studies, an improved Partner Resource Center that provides a range of assets and templates to accelerate partner marketing campaigns, improved discoverability on the Intuit App Marketplace, and dedicated account managers - all of which play a role in helping apps grow, scale, and better serve our shared customers.”

Expanded API Access for Deeper Integration

The program also includes a wave of new APIs for payroll, project management, sales tax, and more. These updates are designed to help developers create more feature-rich apps that grow alongside their customers - particularly as businesses shift from small-scale to more complex mid-market needs.

"Early access to new APIs boosts the functionality of third-party applications, enabling developers to build richer features and deeper integrations,” Hofmann said. “For app partners building industry-specific solutions, early access allows developers to create integrations that meet the tailored needs of these businesses, whether that’s project tracking for construction firms or more flexible payroll structures for companies with diverse employee types.”

A Simpler, Scalable Pricing Model

The new pricing model introduces variable API fees tied to app adoption, alongside a flat monthly fee determined by the developer’s tier. According to Hofmann, this structure isn’t just about monetization - it’s about building a sustainable ecosystem.

"The new fee structure allows Intuit to expand its investment in the overall app ecosystem, including the ability to scale developer infrastructure and support, and provide access to better tools, richer APIs, and improved technical support,” he said. “We’re also looking at ways to increase traffic and exposure to our App Marketplace with the investment.”

The added support includes co-marketing opportunities, access to dedicated solution engineers, and help from account managers focused on growing app adoption within the ecosystem.

Clear Metrics, Targeted Outcomes

Intuit isn’t just rolling out the program and hoping it sticks. It plans to measure success through adoption rates, customer feedback, and real business outcomes for developers and their users.

“Mid-market businesses have more complex needs, often managing several disconnected apps that don’t seamlessly integrate and share data,” Hofmann said. “With the new App Partner Program, we’re enabling third-party developers to create deep, direct integrations with QuickBooks Online and Intuit Enterprise Suite. Success will be measured by how those apps are adopted and used—along with metrics like time saved, lower total cost of ownership, and improved profitability driven by better insights.”

Intuit's program is worth a closer look. The new structure isn’t just about perks; it is about building apps that actually get used, solving real workflow problems, and scaling without hitting a wall. With clearer incentives, stronger support, and APIs that go beyond the basics, Intuit’s setting the stage for more meaningful integrations that are practical, which is exactly what most developers need.
