Hewlett Packard Enterprise has announced Simon Ewington will serve as the new vice president of worldwide distribution at HPE. Ewington will replace George Hope, who was promoted in September 2020.
On September 30, 2020, HPE appointed George Hope, HPE’s former VP of worldwide distribution, to the role of worldwide head of partner sales, succeeding Paul Hunter and leaving the VP of worldwide distribution role vacant, as ChannelE2E reported. Hope continued in the role in the interim while HPE searched for a replacement.
HPE Appoints Simon Ewington as Vice President of Worldwide Distribution
In a blog post announcing Ewington’s appointment, Hope says he will “… work closely with him to empower distributors to further monetize and embrace as-a-service selling strategies, while helping our shared channel partners deliver superior business outcomes to customers.” Hope says Ewington's prior experience at HPE “… enabling the channel transformation from a transactional to an outcome-focused business and his track record of driving consistent growth make him a natural leader for our worldwide distribution business.”
Ewington joined Hewlett-Packard in 1993, and has held numerous international management positions and has deep channel experience, including distribution and channel sales leader, EMEA, between 2014 and 2017. Most recently, he led the Graphics Solutions business at HP Inc, managing a significant volume of channel-led business, according to Hope.
“As more than 80 percent of our indirect business goes through distribution, I’m confident in Simon’s ability to help drive long-term, sustainable, and profitable growth with partners -- executing on HPE’s edge-to-cloud platform-as-a-service vision," Hope says.
