Dropbox VP of Business Strategy Yamini Rangan is shifting to a new position. The Workday, Appirio and SAP veteran is now chief customer officer reporting to CEO Drew Houston. As part of the move, Rangan apparently oversees partnerships worldwide.
Dropbox says Rangan is now responsible for customer-focused business functions, including:
- Global Sales
- Marketing
- Customer Experience
- Business Development; and
- Business Strategy & Operations.
Yamini joined the company in 2016. She previously held key positions at Workday, Appirio and SAP.
The file sync and sharing platform provider remains in growth mode. Revenues reached $339.2 million, up 27 percent from the corresponding quarter last year. The results, revealed yesterday, beat Wall Street's expectations. However, Dropbox shares fell about 9 percent in early morning trading on Friday? The reasons:
- A share lockup period is set to expire on August 23, which basically means some insiders can sell -- releasing a potential 356.4 million shares for trading.
- Chief Operating Officer Dennis Woodside, a key leader, is leaving the company.
