Dataminr and Genetec Partner to Unify Risk Intelligence and Physical Security

Security teams are under pressure to process more alerts than they can realistically manage, often across disconnected systems that don’t talk to each other. The result is noise, blind spots, and delayed responses when incidents unfold. Dataminr and Genetec are tackling this problem with a new integration that brings together real-time AI-powered event intelligence and physical security operations in a single platform.

The collaboration is designed to give operators a clearer view of both external risks and internal security controls, reducing the time it takes to move from awareness to action.

Breaking Down Silos

Legacy security environments often generate tens of thousands of alerts each week, many of which blur into background noise. Operators must toggle between different tools to make sense of them, creating blind spots that delay response. By combining external signals from Dataminr with internal controls managed through Genetec, the integration creates a single workflow. This helps security teams prioritize what matters, understand potential impacts, and act without the friction of switching systems.

Matt Harrell, Chief Partner Officer at Dataminr told ChannelE2E, "The Dataminr and Genetec integration extends operator eyes and ears beyond buildings by bringing in a layer of close-proximity threat intelligence on active assailants, bomb threats, structure fires, hazmat, and critical weather events. This finely tuned stream of alerts will include only events that have a high level of actionability, where operators already have standard operating procedures and playbooks defined.”

How the Integration Works

Dataminr’s AI platform processes public data from over a million sources - spanning text, video, images, and audio in more than 150 languages - to detect high-impact events ranging from active assailants to severe weather. These alerts are then fed directly into Genetec Security Center, where they can be correlated with existing security controls.

From there, predefined workflows can trigger automated responses: locking doors, sounding alarms, redirecting cameras, or escalating alerts to operators.

“We work closely with our partners to ensure that the integration and any automation is configured to solve real problems for our customers,” Harrell explained. “The level of flexibility provided by Genetec’s platform will allow our joint solution to be adapted to the evolving needs of security teams.”

What It Means for Security Teams

The collaboration is designed to shift security operations from reactive to proactive. Instead of drowning in disconnected alerts, teams can focus on the incidents most relevant to their organization. The integrated platform gives them the ability to see threats earlier, understand their context, and accelerate response across their entire footprint.

“The collaboration between Dataminr and Genetec will transform the role of security teams by integrating real-time AI-powered risk intelligence with physical security operations, enabling a proactive rather than reactive approach to security,” Harrell said. “By eliminating operational silos, security teams can access actionable insights and automated workflows within a single platform, enhancing situational awareness and response efficiency for improved decision-making.”
