Cisco Reimagines Infrastructure for the AI Era — From Core to Edge, Cloud to Endpoint

Cisco used its flagship event this year to lay out a unified vision for enterprise infrastructure in the age of agentic AI. Across networking, security, observability, and collaboration, the company introduced new capabilities aimed at helping organizations manage the scale and complexity of AI-powered operations. The message was clear: Cisco wants to be the digital backbone for enterprises building toward more autonomous, AI-driven environments.

As Jeetu Patel, Cisco's President and Chief Product Officer says on AI revolution: "We are witnessing one of the most consequential technology shifts in human history right now... we're moving from intelligent chatbots to agents that can complete tasks and jobs fully autonomously."

From hyperscale data centers to industrial edge networks, Cisco is embedding intelligence into every layer of the stack, delivering infrastructure that’s secure, scalable, and optimized for modern workloads.

Extending that vision to the workplace, Anurag Dhingra, SVP and General Manager of Enterprise Connectivity and Collaboration, emphasized the need for a foundational shift: “When we start with the context that you have a workforce with human workers and digital workers, and how do you do that at scale, it becomes clear that you cannot do this in a piecemeal fashion. You need a holistic architectural approach for this, and that is why we are announcing our secure networking architecture for work, workplace AI transformation. It has three pillars to it. The first one is around simplifying network operations with AI. Second is scalable devices that are secure and capable of handling the needs of not just today, but tomorrow. And then third is truly infusing security into the fabric of the network to mitigate against newer threats that are emerging.”

Bringing AI into the heart of the data center

Cisco’s next-gen Nexus platform anchors its data center strategy, offering a unified networking experience via the Nexus Dashboard. This includes real-time telemetry, intelligent packet steering, and natural-language troubleshooting powered by Cisco’s AI Assistant. Combined with new high-throughput smart switches and secure routers, the hardware is designed to support latency-sensitive, high-performance AI workloads.

The goal: reduce operational overhead while giving IT teams centralized visibility across fabrics, GPUs, and distributed deployments.

AgenticOps: Infrastructure that thinks for itself

Cisco is also introducing AgenticOps, a new operating model that brings deep automation to infrastructure management. At its core is a domain-specific large language model trained on Cisco’s internal knowledge, now accessible via the Cisco AI Canvas, a generative interface that spans NetOps, SecOps, and DevOps workflows.

With real-time telemetry and AI-driven workflows, AgenticOps replaces manual troubleshooting with intelligent automation, helping teams move from reactive to proactive operations.

Security architecture for a world of autonomous agents

As AI agents operate more independently across networks and applications, Cisco is expanding its zero trust architecture. Its Universal ZTNA now applies identity-based controls not only to users but also to AI agents, IoT devices, and unmanaged endpoints. Support for the emerging Model Context Protocol offers policy-based access and visibility into agent behavior, without adding latency or complexity.

Cisco is also deepening its security stack integrations. New firewalls in its Hybrid Mesh Firewall portfolio now offer centralized policy management across hybrid environments, while tighter integration with Splunk correlates data across Cisco Secure, XDR, Talos, and AppDynamics to speed up threat response.

Smarter campuses and more secure collaboration

Cisco is rethinking the campus and branch for the AI era. A unified network architecture now spans Meraki and Catalyst platforms, giving enterprises consistent management across hybrid environments. ThousandEyes assurance extends visibility to mobile and IoT devices, while new ruggedized switches support AI-driven industrial use cases.

On the collaboration side, Webex gains new AI features—from immersive PTZ cameras to virtual agents that integrate with tools like Jira. Cisco also reinforced its security stance with post-quantum encryption protocols and kernel-level protections via Cisco Live Protect.

Supporting the rise of AI-native infrastructure providers

Cisco is also enabling a new wave of regional AI infrastructure providers. Recent partnerships with HUMAIN (Saudi Arabia), G42 (UAE), and Stargate (UAE) point to a broader play in sovereign, GPU-powered cloud infrastructure. Through its Agile Services Networking architecture, Cisco is helping traditional telcos modernize, integrate satellite connectivity, and launch new AI-driven services.
