Check Point Hires Cylance, T-Mobile Veterans for Cloud, Telecom Sales Push

Check Point Software Technologies has hired two key executives to focus on the security company's America sales as well as telecom and cloud sales. The new hires arrive a few months after Check Point launched a new channel partner program, and hired VMware veteran Frank Rauch to drive worldwide channels.

Erez Yarkoni, TK, Check Point Software Technologies
Chris Scanlan, TK, Check Point Software Technologies

The latest hires include:

  • Cylance and Optiv Security veteran Chris Scanlan as president, Americas sales; and
  • BoldIQ and T-Mobile veteran Erez Yarkoni as head of telecom and cloud sales.

ChannelE2E and MSSP Alert reached out to Check Point to see how Scanlan and Yarkoni will coordinate their efforts with Frank Rauch, head of worldwide channel sales.

The company's overall response to us stated:

"Yes we are excited to have Chis, Erez and Frank as part of the leadership team. They will work closely together, as Chris leads the Americas go-to-market, Frank focuses on scale and reach through our valued channel partners and Erez tackles some of our largest growth opportunities with telco and cloud providers.  Together they will be unstoppable."

ChannelE2E and MSSP Alert also check to see who within Check Point will manage relationships with MSPs and MSSPs, since some companies focus on those partner categories separately from traditional VARs and IT consulting firms. In a response, Check Point said:

"While Frank will own the execution and strategy, he will work closely with Erez every step of the way. Erez brings tremendous expertise in this area and will be responsible for the Telco vertical, which is an essential pillar in  any MSP / MSSP strategy. Together they will collaborate to create and execute the best MSSP program in the industry leveraging the leading Check Point solutions. Direct responsibility for MSP and MSSP business will flow trough Frank. Erez will be responsible for Telco vertical and will manage all sales efforts in that vertical. Both will coordinate and work together to ensure we maximize efforts and align value proposition to each vertical."

Check Point launched a new partner program earlier this year, and has been extending its cybersecurity software to run natively on public clouds. CFO Tal Payne provided a brief partner program progress report on those efforts during the company's recent Q2 2019 earnings call.
