Broadvoice, which provides hosted voice, unified communications, and SIP Trunking services for businesses, has acquired cloud communications service provider YipTel.

Broadvoice gains a midmarket and enterprise grade customer base. Sandy, Utah-basd YipTel also brings its telehealth practice, allowing Broadvoice to enter the medical industry.

“We already have a strong focus in government, and have HIPAA certifications, so adding this layer of expertise, will instantly expand our vertical strategy,” Broadvoice CEO Jim Murphy asserts.

All of YipTel's 54 employees -- across offices in Utah, Colorado and Texas -- will join Broadvoice. The companies and brands will operate separately through the end of 2018, and YipTel’s leadership will continue in senior management roles. That includes CEO Robert Brown, who has held the position since 2002.

Broadvoice and YipTel have indirect channel programs, which will also be run independently. Broadvoice says it will honor partners’ contracts with YipTel and will offer them an opportunity to sell Broadvoice’s portfolio to their customers as well.“YipTel has many loyal partners and five regional channel managers. We welcome them to the Broadvoice family,” said Murphy.
