Akamai has simplified how its partners work with the company. The company has launched
Akamai Partner Connect which introduces a single, global framework that brings together all partner types - resellers, distributors, service providers, technology service distributors (TSDs), and referral partners - under one program.
The new structure consolidates what were once multiple go-to-market tracks into one unified platform. Instead of juggling different rules, partners now engage through a streamlined model that adapts to how they operate in their local markets. This approach aims to cut complexity and make engagement more consistent worldwide while still leaving room for regional differences.
Localized Tiering and Predictable Growth
One of the biggest shifts is the move to localized tiering.
Paul Joseph, Executive Vice President of Global Sales and Services at Akamai told ChannelE2E, “We’ve designed localized tiering to be predictable and transparent. It aligns with local market maturity and performance benchmarks, which means partners know exactly what success looks like in their region. We’ve paired that with clear financial incentives focused on strategic product areas. The goal was to remove the friction that came from applying global expectations to local realities, not introduce new layers of complexity. Partners now have a clearer line of sight from effort to outcome.”
Incentives Built Around Strategic Solutions
The program also ties incentives to Akamai’s key solution areas. Joseph explained, “We built the program to support long-term value creation over transactional wins. Partners can now tap into offerings like Ask an Expert, Day-2 operations support, and hands-on enablement built around key use cases. These are all designed to help them deliver faster outcomes, expand product footprint, and deepen customer adoption. The result is stronger stickiness, higher retention, and a foundation for recurring services that extend well beyond the initial sale.”
Expanding the Ecosystem with ISVs
Akamai Partner Connect also opens the door for independent software vendors (ISVs) to join the ecosystem. Joseph emphasized that this expansion is designed to complement, not compete with, existing partner motions. “Our approach to ISVs is ecosystem-first. ISVs will leverage our Linode cloud computing platform to build market-ready solutions that complement our broader channel. By design, this creates opportunities for collaboration: resellers and service providers can bring these ISV innovations into customer environments, creating joint value. We see this as a multiplier rather than a threat, and we’re putting the structure in place to ensure our partners benefit from a growing, solution-rich ecosystem.”
For the first time, Akamai has integrated all partner types into a single global framework while decentralizing the qualification criteria. Partners gain simplicity in engagement, more flexibility at the local level, and incentives that align directly with strategic growth areas. The result is a clearer, more predictable program that connects effort to outcomes and provides new opportunities across a growing partner ecosystem.
