One of the most important concepts I preach to my clients is that confidence is the key to success. It helps you build sales relationships and convert sales from your prospects. You know why? Because your enthusiasm and knowledge translates as confidence, therefore, prospects trust that your product is beneficial. Not only do you need to be confident in your product, but you need personal confidence, as well. These things take practice, and I’m going to show you how.

Why Self Confidence is Important in the Sales Process

Let’s talk about it: Do you value yourself as you would value the product that you’re trying to sell to a prospective client? Show your prospect that you believe in not only yourself, but the product you’re trying to sell. Self-confidence helps you succeed in your business by not only allowing you to feel happier and less stressed but also to convey that you’re the person for the job. If you don’t have confidence, you won’t make the sale. You won’t lead your company effectively and you won’t scale or sell. Without confidence you’re a day-to-day tech guy and should have kept that crappy job.

How Do You Build Self Confidence?

Developing a routine can help you build up your self confidence by eliminating distractions. We are very guilty of letting our minds wander towards the negative in our lives. But what if, instead, you combat those negative thoughts with positive ones? By doing this, you’re improving your mindset which in turn, improves your self-confidence. It’s the same thing as going into a meeting with a bad attitude, the outcome is likely not going to be great. If you go in with a positive attitude, you’re more likely to achieve what you want out of that meeting.

In addition to a good attitude, have a problem solving mindset; that way you can build relationships with your clients and they will see your helpfulness as confidence. Here are a few other ways you can work on building your self confidence as well:

  • View your failures as motivation
  • Know your strengths and weaknesses
  • Celebrate your wins!

Often, it isn’t a sales process, a marketing technique or a deck - but it’s the lack of confidence that is stopping you from reaching the next level of success.
