Welcome to the midway point of 2016 -- the perfect time to check in with key industry influencers for their views on the IT channel, the economy and emerging trends for partners. In today's edition, we hear from SolarWinds N-able GM JP Javin.

SolarWinds N-able offers RMM (remote monitoring and management), IT service management and remote control solutions to MSPs. And as you may recall, SolarWinds is combining N-able with LogicNow to form the SolarWinds MSP business unit. Here's the Mid-Year Check-In with Jauvin.

ChannelE2E: What are the most important business/IT trends you tracked during the first half of 2016, and what did they mean to your business?

Jauvin: The playing field for channel partners is growing and placing more emphasis on IT management, IT automation and IT security. Trends including risk intelligence and backup & recovery direct to cloud are moving MSPs beyond the LAN to the WAN and bringing forward new competitors. Our SolarWinds MSP portfolio offers MSPs the tools and resources they need to tackle all of this and more.

We’re seeing big MSPs get bigger, mid-size MSPs starting to invest more, and smaller MSPs look for technologies and processes to help them breakthrough and grow. As SolarWinds MSP, we will continue to bring scale and service excellence to MSPs of all sizes through our expanding portfolio of managed IT services, tools & platforms.

Cloud’s becoming a de facto standard now. If you’re not actively selling, supporting and educating your customers on cloud services, you’re leaving windows of opportunity for the competition. BDR and all things tied to IT security, especially Cybersecurity, are growing opportunities for MSPs and definitely played a role in the recent expansion of our MSP practice. Our emphasis on training and education will certainly help MSPs better support these technologies and make the business case for managed IT services.

ChannelE2E: How have SolarWinds N-able's partners been evolving in the first half of 2016?

Jauvin: The Gartner Maturity models still holds true and we’re seeing a lot more technology adoption in the maturity model. We are really well equipped to shorten the maturity cycle for our channel partners and help them build their business around managed IT services and more advanced technology solutions.

ChannelE2E: Let's turn to SolarWinds N-able itself. What was the most strategic product or service the company launched in recent months?

Jauvin: It's difficult to say – there are so many important new products in our portfolio including MSP Manager for service management, MSP Anywhere for remote access and remote support, and Max Backup & Recovery for direct to cloud file backup and recovery.

ChannelE2E: What is SolarWinds N-able's top priority for the second half of 2016?

Jauvin: We are focusing on the integration of SolarWinds N-able and LOGICnow to form SolarWinds MSP. Together, we have solutions to serve MSPs of any size and scale and help them run a profitable IT service management business. We have the largest MSP partner base in the world, manage the greatest number of devices and offer unequaled subject matter expertise. Our partners should be very excited about the future.
