SolarWinds MSP recently unveiled a new single-sign-on (SSO) login system for some of its key solutions as part of a phased rollout.
SolarWinds says the new SSO approach adds more consistency and security to its various managed services software platforms by better integrating login and two-factor-authentication (2FA). This development also lays the groundwork for future enhancements to user experience across the SolarWinds MSP platform, the company asserts.
The rollout begins with such offerings as SolarWinds RMM, SolarWinds MSP Manager, SolarWinds MSP Anywhere, and SolarWinds Risk Intelligence. SSO is now available for each of these products on the SolarWinds RMM mobile apps for Android and iOS, the company says.
Tim Brown, vice president of security at SolarWinds MSP, says SSO will make things run smoother for customers while improving the security of its products. “Single-sign-on, together with two-factor authentication, helps to alleviate misuse, provides stronger authentication, and furthers the integration into one powerful and more secure platform,” he says.
A side note: SolarWinds MSP's single sign on capabilities do not eliminate the need for password management tools that many MSPs extend to their end-customers.

This SSO efforts arrive shortly after SolarWinds unveiled an updated version of its Storage Resource Monitor (SRM), which extended support for its solutions to HPE, Dell EMC, INFINIDAT, and IBM; and a new version of its Server & Application Monitor (SAM).
Take a closer look at the company, and SolarWinds is increasingly blurring the lines between its IT professional and MSP offerings. For instance, the company recently extended its MSP-centric backup and disaster recovery software toward corporate IT administrators.
