Managed service providers (MSPs) were cautioned by 3rd Element Consulting CEO Dawn Sizer against rushing into artificial intelligence partnerships without rigorous vetting, CRN reports."This isn't like picking your next PSA," said Sizer at the 2025 XChange NexGen conference in Houston, where she urged MSPs to subject AI vendors to intense scrutiny.Sizer said many startups claiming to offer AI solutions lack genuine expertise, funding, or operational maturity, describing some as "three chatbots in a trench coat."She emphasized that vendors should be transparent about their architecture, data handling, and legal compliance, adding, "These are not fine-print questions. These are front-page questions." Sizer also pressed MSPs to assess data security, ownership, and system control, warning of risks tied to unclear data flows and untested AI behavior. Fort Point IT CEO Travis Woods echoed her call, stressing the need for greater transparency and accountability to protect both client and company data amid widespread AI adoption.
