Ricoh USA Layoffs 2017: 5 Percent Staff Cuts

Share

Ricoh USA is laying off about 5 percent of its staff across the United States, according to the Denver Business Journal. The company has about 26,000 employees across the U.S., the report estimated. Ricoh staff cuts will include employee layoffs in New Jersey and Colorado, according to additional reports.

Ricoh USA is best-known in the document workflow, printing and imaging markets. The company also owns mindSHIFT, a large managed services provider (MSP) acquired from BestBuy in  January 2014.

Ricoh also acquired Avanti Computer Systems (Print Management Information System solutions) in January 2017, and PTI Marketing Technologies (SaaS-based marketing asset management) in 2014.

Ricoh USA Layoffs: No mindSHIFT Cuts

Ricoh USA's current layoffs will not impact the mindSHIFT, Avanti or PTI assets, according to a spokesperson for the company.

Print-centric companies including HP Inc., Xerox and others have been reinventing their businesses in recent years. The efforts focus less on traditional printer hardware, and more on next-gen technologies and services -- including managed print services (MPS) and 3D printing.

HP, in particular, has earned applause for managing the transition in recent months. Still, even HP has suffered layoffs amid the transformational journey.
