Hardware giants Dell Technologies and Hewlett Packard Enterprise continue to enhance and expand their cloud services for their respective hardware platforms. With those goals in mind, Dell announced Dell Hybrid Client services for its mobile and desktop PCs, and HPE announced new GreenLake Cloud services and partnerships.
Dell Hybrid Client Services
Dell said its Hybrid Client computing software is a centrally managed client solution that personalizes the user and IT experience across multiple platforms, while still providing security and flexibility across devices and work environments, according to a statement from the company. Features like built-in everyday productivity applications, browser security and others are available out-of-the-box and managed through the cloud, empowering employees to work how and where is best for them, Dell said.
Dell Hybrid Client begins with single sign-on where users will find their personalized desktop interface and all their applications, whether in the cloud or virtual. The solution includes endpoint security, simplified workflows integrated with apps from Citrix, VMware and Microsoft, as well as various storage locations. The solution supports all major cloud providers, including Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, as well as collaboration platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams, according to the statement. Dell Hybrid Client users receive support via Dell's ProSupport.
Dell Hybrid Client is currently available across a variety of desktop, VDI and mobile form factors - including the OptiPlex 7090 Ultra, OptiPlex 3090 Ultra, Wyse 5070 and the new Latitude 3320, according to Dell. The latest Dell Hybrid Client will be available starting on March 26, and is priced at $60.00 USD per year per device.
"At the core of Dell Hybrid Client sits an elevated experience for both employees and IT teams," said Brooke Huling, vice president, modern computing solutions group, Dell Technologies. "For employees, Dell Hybrid Client delivers the same, personalized experience regardless of the device you chose to work on. Everything you need is at your fingertips. For IT, we've opened access to multiple clouds enabling experiences to be scaled and customized for workforces at rapid pace."
HPE GreenLake Cloud Services
HPE is making its GreenLake cloud services available now to partners through distributors’ marketplaces and also announced a series of new cloud services for virtual machines, containers and bare metal management, according to a statement from the company.
New agreements with ALSO Group, Arrow Electronics, Ingram Micro Inc., Synnex and Tech Data will expand the market reach for HPE GreenLake cloud services by integrating HPE GreenLake in their online marketplaces, HPE said in a statement. A new, simplified billing experience on HPE GreenLake Central will enable partners to deliver a cloud experience to their customers faster and more seamlessly, according to the statement.
HPE also introduced enhanced features to the HPE GreenLake for Aruba offering, which is part of the HPE Partner Ready for Networking Program, that are tailored to partners seeking to shift to an as-a-service selling model, according to the statement.
HPE’s partner ecosystem was key for the company's growth over the last year, with partner-led orders for HPE GreenLake growing 116% in Q1 2021, the company said. HPE also unveiled three new modular HPE GreenLake cloud services that provide customers with low-cost, smaller entry points. Customers can start small and have the flexibility to scale out to meet future requirements, choosing the deployment size, compute instance or storage volume instances that best fit their needs, and scale incrementally – either in a modular way with compute and storage, or with multi-rack support.
These new and expanded HPE GreenLake cloud services include HPE GreenLake cloud services for bare metal, which allows customers to discover, provision and manage compute and storage resources in HPE GreenLake Central, to run workloads directly on the server or to use virtual machines or containers. This provides customers with control, agility and a lower cost approach to build platforms tailored to their performance, cost, and configuration requirements.
Partner Enhancements and New Tooling
HPE has made other important updates to HPE GreenLake Central to make it easier for channel partners to drive growth and expand their expertise to deliver as-a-service solutions to their customers, the company said in the statement. The enhancements aid partners in selling, billing and capacity planning to enable HPE and partners to deliver a seamless and simplified experience for customers, according to the statement.
The new portfolio components, HPE GreenLake Central enhancements and partner program enhancements will be available during HPE’s first half 2021, with the bare metal enhancements following in the second half of 2021, according to the statement.
“As the market leader in hybrid and on-premises cloud services, HPE continues to innovate to bring HPE GreenLake and the cloud experience to a broader set of customers for their digital transformation and modernization efforts – at the edge, colocation facility, or datacenter,” said Keith White, senior vice president and general manager, HPE GreenLake Cloud Services. “The HPE partner ecosystem plays a central role in our success, and partners of all types are embedding HPE GreenLake into their business models and offerings to deliver an agile as-a-service experience to their clients. Together, we are disrupting the market by “bringing the cloud to you” for our clients, combining the simplicity and agility of the cloud with the flexibility and control of a hybrid environment.”
