Cisco, Moogsoft Pitch Service Quality Software to MSPs

As ChannelE2E looks for the future of managed services, we continue to scan beyond the traditional SMB market. Emerging on our radar now: A so-called "virtual" managed services push from Cisco Systems and Moogsoft -- which develops IT operations software for monitoring and event management.

In a deal this week, Cisco's Cloud and Virtualization Group confirmed plans to offer Moogsoft's Incident.Moog platform to MSPs, telco service providers, and cloud-driven enterprises. Basically, Moogsoft's software can help MSPs to automatically detect issues that may affect tenant service quality -- and address those issues before they cause a noticeable issue or disruption.

Cisco, Moogsoft: Long-Term Partners

The Cisco-Moogsoft relationship isn't surprising. Cisco was part of Moogsoft's Series B funding round in 2014, and Cisco's own corporate IT department leverages Incident.Moog to improve infrastructure and application performance.

Instead of pitching itself as an MSP software provider, Moogsoft promotes itself as a Unified Event Analytics software provider. It's somewhat akin to New Relic, another hot startup, evangelizing software analytics rather than remote monitoring. In Moogsoft's case, the company's platform leverages adaptive machine learning and so-called "socialized workflows" to drive IT incident detection and remediation management.

The Moogsoft team is quite familiar with enterprise IT management issues. The company founders are the original team behind IBM Tivoli Netcool and RiverSoft.
