9. 6. HPE Raising Britain Prices: HP Enterprise is the latest technology company to raise prices in Britain. Apple and Microsoft have previously announced similar price increases, though Microsoft's won't activate until January 1, 2017. 3. Backup Meets Analytics: StorageCraft has launched File Backup and Recovery with Backup Analyzer, which leverages analytics to identify the data that should be backed up and the data that should not. The result, StorageCraft claims, is "an intelligent tiered data architecture that provides rapid access to mission-critical information." The analytics technology is based on StorageCraft's recent Gillware Online Backup acquisition.

2. NetApp Layoffs: The storage company is cutting about 6 percent of its staff, and the cuts will be completed by about April 2017. Two rounds of earlier layoffs involved workforce cuts of about 14 percent, The Wall Street Journal estimated.
