20. Facebook Owes $500 Million: Facebook lost a lawsuit related to Oculus and has to pay $500 million, according to a judgment against the company. Facebook is considering its options to appeal, but COO Sheryl Sandberg said the ruling was "not material" to Facebook's business, according to recode. Hmmm... 19. Broadband Performance Lawsuit: New York filed a lawsuit against Charter Communications, the parent company of Spectrum (previously known as Time Warner Cable). The lawsuit alleges that the cable and internet provider misled customers on Internet speeds and failed to address network issues that impacted service, The Verge reported. 18. Business and Trump: Facebook, Microsoft, Google, Apple, Amazon and companies from other verticals (finance, manufacturing, energy, consumer goods, etc.) are circulating an open letter to President Donald Trump expressing concern about his recent order on immigration and offering help fixing it and other policies, according to Bloomberg. 17. Apple Reducing Intel's Role?: Apple is developing a Mac chip that would reduce Intel's role within MacBooks. Apple customers, meanwhile, would simply settle for CEO Tim Cook to make a renewed emphasis on Mac hardware...

M&A - Network Security: HP Enterprise acquired Niara, a Sunnyvale, California-based security startup focused on User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA). Niara will operate within HPE Aruba to enhance the company's ClearPass network security portfolio for wired and wireless network infrastructure. Financial terms were not disclosed. 14. M&A - User Experience: Salesforce has acquired Sequence, a user experience design agency in San Francisco. It's a safe bet Salesforce plans to sell more consulting services focused specifically on user interface design and user experience. 13. M&A - Cloud & IT Services: Green Cloud Technologies, a channel-only, Cisco-powered cloud provider, has acquired Atlanta-based Cirrity, a channel-only cloud solutions provider. Financial terms were not disclosed. We'll share more thoughts soon. 12. Cloud Storage Services: Peak 10 has deployed Nexenta's Software-Defined Storage (OpenSDS) and Western Digital InfiniFlash platform storage solution. The deployment allowed Peak 10 to future-proof its Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service (DRaaS) offerings, the companies claimed. 11. Distribution, Part I: Avnet has agreed to distribute HotLink's hybrid IT solutions across the United States and Canada. HotLink provides native public cloud integration with VMware vCenter management infrastructure. The result: HotLink enables resellers to deliver holistic management of hybrid cloud production environments as easily as homogenous, on-premise VMware deployments, the company claims. But wait. 10. Distribution, Part II: Ingram Micro is hosting its annual U.S. Sales Kickoff and President’s Club event in Buffalo this week. Roughly 1,600 Ingram Micro representatives are attending. Among those taking the stage: Ingram Micro SVP Kirk Robinson, Executive VP Paul Bay, and The 2112 Group CEO Larry Walsh -- who discussed how technology is changing business outcomes. 9. Distribution, Part III: Tech Data has agreed to distribute PrinterLogic, a server-less Enterprise Print Management solution, across the U.S. and Canada. 8. Tech Data Financing: Tech Data has completed the previously announced public offering of $500 million in aggregate principal. The distributor will use the money to fund a portion of the $2.6 billion Avnet Technology Solutions purchase. 7. AT&T and Cisco IoT: Keep an eye on AT&T Control Center, which helps businesses to launch, manage and monetize Internet of Things (IoT) services. The cloud platform is powered by Cisco Jasper. Moreover, AT&T NetBond connectivity ensures that customers have secure connectivity to the cloud service, AT&T asserts. 6. Salesforce Partner Program: Exchange Solutions has joined the Salesforce Partner Program in support of Salesforce Commerce Cloud. Exchange Solutions creates products and solutions that deliver real-time, individualized omni-channel customer engagement to help Commerce Cloud customers maximize customer lifetime value, customer satisfaction and profitability, the company claims. 5. Apple Mobility Partner Program: Imagine if you could actually find information about the Apple Mobility Partner Program? Yup, that hyperlink actually leads to info that pulls the curtain back a bit on the partner program.
4 . U.S. Visa Concerns: India tech companies saw their stocks fall on Wednesday. The reason: Concerns that the Trump administration may change U.S. visa policies, which could potentially impact India's IT service providers as they attempt to work with U.S. customers...

ForeScout IPO: ForeScout Technologies has quietly filed for a potential IPO, TechCrunch says. A “unicorn,” ForeScout’s last private round valued the company at $1 billion. The company has raised over $158 million since it was founded in 2000. ForeScout develops network-centric security tools that detect devices when they connect to the network. 2. Symantec Momentum and Concerns: Symantec's latest quarterly results, announced yesterday, were stronger than Wall Street expected. Also, the company's integration/synergies across the Symantec and Blue Coat businesses is proceeding faster than expected, according to CFO Nick Noviello. The challenges: Symantec's Q4 forecast for revenue and profit is a bit less than Wall Street expected. Also, the company will issue $1 billion of senior unsecured notes to help financing the $2.3 billion LifeLock purchase, Tech Trader Daily noted. 1.
