VOGSY: Professional Services Automation (PSA) Meets Google G Suite
Google G Suite and Microsoft Office 365 are two of the most popular SaaS-based business productivity suites. In Microsoft’s case, the company offers add-ons like Project and Dynamics to help businesses drive further automation.
What about Google G Suite? To the best of my knowledge, the company doesn’t offer a dedicated project management platform, PSA (professional services automation) or ERP utility.
VOGSY is eager to fill that void, particularly in the PSA sector. The company, which launched in November 2016, offers a mobile ERP solution that is based entirely on Google’s ecosystem of cloud-based products and services. VOGSY helps midsized professional services organizations (PSOs) to manage the Quote-to-Cash process across sales, account management, resourcing, financing and more.
VOGSY surfaced last year in Google’s G Suite Marketplace — the search giant’s app store for certified applications. The platform is currently aimed at firms with staff sizes between 25 and 5,000 people.
VOGSY takes a social media approach to professional services automation. The platform uses an activity stream, where users can view daily business activities and goals like they would browse the feed of a social media platform. It also has a pinboard that allows users to create dashboards and cards that can be shared with co-workers.
With this social media based approach, the platform focuses on interaction, rather than action, allowing speed and collaboration between team members through its newsfeed-based workflow, the company asserts.
VOGSY gives some level of access to all members of the organization, with different levels of control assigned accordingly, in a similar style to the Admin structures on many social networking ‘Groups’. According to the company, users can ‘follow’ other projects they are not directly involved in, as well as compliment co-workers posts. Through these interactions, cross-company knowledge of projects can be improved and all employees can feel like they are in the know with what is going on in the company.
