NTT DATA has signed a multi-year Strategic Collaboration Agreement with Amazon Web Services that reflects a shift in how enterprises approach cloud and AI. The priority is no longer moving workloads to AWS as a technical milestone. It is about using cloud and agentic AI to reduce cost, improve speed, and support compliance across complex environments.
Sandip Gupta, Head of Global Strategic Alliances at NTT DATA, told ChannelE2E, “This strategic collaboration is designed to deliver measurable business outcomes for our joint clients, not simple migrations.” He points to the combination of AWS cloud and AI services with NTT DATA’s industry expertise and full-stack modernization capabilities as the core differentiator.
Outcomes over experimentation
The collaboration is structured to connect modernization work directly to business results. According to Gupta, “Together, we help clients reduce costs and complexity through AI-driven modernization and automation, accelerate time to value with repeatable industry cloud solutions and embed compliance and security into the design of mission-critical workloads from day one.”
This matters as enterprises struggle to turn AI pilots into production systems. Gupta notes that the goal is to help organizations “move beyond pilots to deploy agentic AI responsibly, integrated into core business processes, so AI delivers tangible value, not experimentation alone.”
Clear ownership in delivery and managed services
The agreement also clarifies roles across delivery, managed services, and customer relationships. “This agreement reinforces NTT DATA’s role as a strategic transformation and managed services partner for complex regulated and large-scale enterprise environments,” Gupta says.
NTT DATA takes end-to-end accountability, from advisory and modernization through implementation and long-term operations. AWS works alongside NTT DATA to co-develop industry and AI solutions, accelerate capability build-out, and support global go-to-market efforts. In regulated and high-growth sectors such as financial services, healthcare, public sector, and manufacturing, Gupta emphasizes that clients expect NTT DATA to “manage the ongoing relationship, ensure compliance and continuously optimize outcomes as business and regulatory requirements evolve.”
Delivering sovereignty by design
Digital sovereignty is a defining element of the collaboration, particularly in Europe. As a launch partner for the AWS European Sovereign Cloud, NTT DATA plays a central role in turning sovereignty requirements into operational reality.
Gupta explains that NTT DATA “delivers sovereign-by-design cloud solutions and managed services that combine regulatory compliance with the same security, availability, and performance clients expect from AWS.” He adds that NTT DATA’s responsibility goes beyond implementation, noting, “We design, operate and manage sovereign environments that align with European regulatory expectations while supporting mission-critical workloads.”
The collaboration positions cloud, industry solutions, and agentic AI as a single transformation path rather than disconnected initiatives. For enterprises, the so-what is clear: modernization is tied to measurable outcomes, AI adoption is grounded in core operations, and regulatory requirements are addressed through design and ongoing management, not after-the-fact controls.
