Mitel has finalized its acquisition of Unify, an Atos company, for an undisclosed sum. The company previously entered into exclusive negotiations with Atos to acquire Unify in January 2023.

This is technology M&A deal number 271 that ChannelE2E and sister site MSSP Alert have covered so far in 2023.

Mitel, founded in 1972, is based in Ontario, Canada. The company has 3,385 employees listed on LinkedIn. Mitel's areas of expertise include business phone systems and collaboration tools.

Unify, founded in 2008, is based in Munich, Bavaria. The company has 2,656 employees listed on LinkedIn. Unify's areas of expertise include communication and collaboration services and solutions.

Atos founded in 1997, is based in Bezons, France. The company has 79,546 employees listed on LinkedIn. Atos' areas of expertise include advanced computing, analytics and artificial intelligence.

What Unify Brings to Mitel

Mitel adds Unify's voice platforms, collaboration and contact center products, devices, endpoints and associated intellectual property to its portfolio, the companies stated. As such, Unify extends Mitel's ability to provide its customers with choice and flexibility throughout the life of their communications needs.

In addition, Mitel and Unify will be able to deliver "greater value for customers in core verticals such as healthcare, public sector, hospitality and financial services through a depth and breadth of specialized vertical solutions and integration capabilities," the businesses said. They have a combined customer base of more than 75 million users in over 100 countries and support a community of more than 5,500 resellers, service providers, technology and strategic alliance partners.

Mitel Bolsters Its Managed Services Business

Unify also strengthens Mitel's enterprise segment, the companies indicated. It provides Mitel with a managed services business and experience helping enterprises digitally transform their communications.

Furthermore, Unify supports Mitel's growth in the mid-market sector, the businesses noted. It helps Mitel serve enterprises of all sizes and accelerate its growth.

Mitel and Unify Prioritize Consistency for Channel Partners

Resellers and strategic technology partners of Mitel and Unify should expect "little to no change" in 2023, the companies said. Mitel and Unify are committed to establish unified partner and alliance programs that "deliver meaningful value for partners," the companies noted.

Meanwhile, Mitel is working on combining go-to-market processes, portfolio roadmaps and organizational structures with Unify to "create a world-class set of offerings and programs," the business indicated. Mitel said it expects to share its vision for its integrated portfolio and partner programs in early 2024.
