LevelBlue has rolled out its
Managed Web Application and API Protection (WAAP) service, built on
Akamai’s App & API Protector platform, to help organizations protect digital assets while reducing operational strain. The service combines a web application firewall, DDoS mitigation, bot defense, and API security, supported by LevelBlue’s dedicated WAAP operations team.
Opening Revenue Opportunities for MSPs and MSSPs
Sundhar Annamalai, President at LevelBlue, told ChannelE2E that the offering comes at a time when demand for scalable, managed protection is surging. He explained that many organizations are expanding their digital-first strategies and need to secure an ever-growing number of web apps and APIs.
“Our Managed WAAP service combines Akamai’s best-in-class App & API Protector technology with LevelBlue’s 24/7 WAAP operations expertise. This gives partners a way to help clients consolidate tools, reduce operational overhead, and deliver measurable security outcomes — all of which can be built into recurring revenue models.”
He added that the service is a strong fit for organizations heavily reliant on external websites, customer-facing portals, SaaS applications, and API-driven services, particularly in regulated industries or those with globally distributed user bases.
“Many of these customers have business-critical services exposed to the internet and need consistent, scalable protection without expanding in-house security teams. Our tiered service model lets them match protection levels to the scale and sensitivity of their footprint while keeping operational costs predictable.”
LevelBlue’s service is offered in two tiers - Essential and Advanced - giving organizations flexibility based on risk profile and resource availability. Key capabilities include continuous discovery and classification of web apps and APIs, prioritization of exposed or sensitive assets, AI-driven threat detection, and automated policy management to cut false positives and align with DevOps workflows. The 24/7 operations team handles monitoring, tuning, and incident response, enabling internal teams to focus on strategic work rather than day-to-day configuration.
Equipping Channel Partners to Meet Demand
The partnership with Akamai positions resellers and service providers to deliver more integrated solutions.
“As web app counts climb and API usage becomes standard, many security teams are hitting the limits of fragmented, in-house solutions,” Annamalai said. “This partnership gives them a consolidated, fully managed service that simplifies protection, boosts efficiency, and eliminates the need to juggle multiple, non-integrated tools. Whether they’re protecting a handful of apps or a global API ecosystem, partners can offer a single, adaptive security layer that scales with customer growth.”
Channel partners can deliver either the Essential or Advanced tier, aligning protection to customer needs while maintaining a predictable investment model. LevelBlue will support them with training, co-selling opportunities, and integration resources to help embed the service into their portfolios.
By combining Akamai’s technology with LevelBlue’s managed expertise, the WAAP service gives partners and customers a streamlined path to stronger protection and more efficient operations.
