Kiteworks has acquired Zivver, a secure email provider based in Amsterdam, to expand its capabilities in data privacy and regulated communications. The acquisition brings AI-powered email protection into the Kiteworks Private Data Network and strengthens its position in Europe, where regulatory pressure around data sovereignty continues to mount.
AI-Powered Email Protection Meets Hybrid Deployment Demands
Zivver’s technology analyzes emails in real time to detect sensitive content, erroneous recipients, or missing encryption before messages are sent. This helps prevent the accidental data leaks that remain a top source of breaches in enterprise environments.
“Zivver's AI-driven email protection will be integrated into Kiteworks' Private Data Network,” said
Amit Toren, Chief Business Officer at Kiteworks. “This integration addresses hybrid deployments by enabling flexible AI model deployment, running on-premises for highly regulated data while maintaining deployment flexibility for various compliance environments.”
Extending Governance Across the Entire Data Ecosystem
Kiteworks will embed Zivver’s contextual protection and zero-access encryption into its unified content governance platform, which already supports secure file sharing, SFTP, MFT, enterprise AI workflows, and DRM.
“The system proactively prevents human errors through intelligent warnings when users attempt to send sensitive information to unauthorized recipients or forget to encrypt confidential data,” Toren explained. “The combination of Kiteworks and Zivver will apply consistent AI-driven policies across the entire data ecosystem, automatically classifying content and preventing unauthorized sharing regardless of the communication method.”
New Channel Opportunities Through a Unified Platform
For channel partners, the acquisition opens new opportunities to offer complete data protection across all communication channels.
“Kiteworks’ acquisition of Zivver creates significant opportunities for channel partners by merging Zivver's secure email and file transfer capabilities with Kiteworks' comprehensive content governance platform,” said
Dave Byrnes, Vice President of Global Channels. “Existing Zivver partners can now expand their portfolios with broader governance solutions while maintaining current revenue streams, and new partners can differentiate themselves with a unified platform covering email security, file transfers, and compliance automation.”
Phased Integration Ahead, with Continuity in the Near Term
Zivver will continue to operate independently in the near term, with no immediate changes for customers or partners. However, Byrnes confirmed that a gradual move toward full integration is planned.
“While Kiteworks has indicated that Zivver will continue operating as a separate business unit in the near term… the strategic direction clearly points toward eventual platform integration that will create unified SKUs and consolidated support models,” he said. Byrnes encouraged partners to begin cross-training on Kiteworks while continuing Zivver engagements during the transition.
This marks Kiteworks’ sixth acquisition in less than four years and aligns with its broader strategy to deliver secure, compliant, and user-friendly data exchange. As regulatory scrutiny increases and organizations demand more unified tools for email, files, and forms, the combined strengths of Kiteworks and Zivver aim to provide end-to-end protection without adding complexity.
